Diagnosing car problems yourself may seem like an impossible task, but try to think of it in terms of your own body. For instance, if your stomach begins to hurt without warning, you'll probably start thinking of the last thing you ate to figure out why you're having the pain. A similar type of thinking goes into car trouble. The moment you start noticing something out of the ordinary, it's time to start considering the problem and finding a way to fix it.

Mechanical auto problems — as opposed to electrical auto problems — usually have distinct sounds and sensations that are key indicators that something isn't functioning the way it was designed to

Auto air conditioning (A/C)
A/C used to be a luxury feature; today, it comes standard in every make and model. Since air conditioning systems are complex, it’s important to have them inspected regularly. After all, there’s nothing worse than finding out your AC isn’t working on a hot summer day! Here are some signs of A/C problems:
  • Little to no airflow coming out of your vents

  • Difficulty cooling down the cabin

  • Foul odors or a burning smell when you turn on the AC

  • Strange noises, like rattling or a high-pitched tone

  • The cabin becomes warmer after a few minutes

  • Visible leaks around the dashboard or water stains on the floorboards

  • The AC starts off cool and gradually gets warmer

BRAKE REPAIRS
We repair and replace both types of brakes (disc brakes and drum brakes). Although the two systems work a little differently, both use friction to stop your vehicle. Over time, the friction causes the brake lining to wear away; when the lining gets low, the pads or shoes should be replaced. Here are some signs that you need to replace or repair your brake pads/shoes
  • The dashboard brake warning light is on

  • It takes longer than normal to come to a complete stop

  • The front end of your car pulls to one side when you hit the brake pedal

  • Squealing, squeaking, or grinding noises when braking

  • A soft or spongy brake pedal

  • Vibration in the brake pedal or steering wheel

  • Smoke coming from one of your wheels

  • The brake pad wear bars are visible or there’s less than a ¼ inch of brake pad material left
